- Born in Kerala,India. Basanth Peringode knew right from his childhood that he would be an artist.Though he was a good caricaturist and sculptor,it is painting that gave him the most satisfaction.His imagination turned the most mundane subjects into profound works of art. In fact the omnipresent electric post on the indian skyline is a signature component in his landscape painting even today. After passing out from the Guruvayur devaswom Mural Painting Institute he held Exhibitions in Spain,New Delhi,Chennai,Banglore,jaipure,Cochin.Basanth also attended a number of artist camps around the country. He has also done art direction for a number of Malayalam feture films including the national award winning 'Kaliyattom'. In 2005 he won the State Award instituted by Kerala Lalithakala Academy. In 2003 he won the Kerala Cartoon Academy's Award for Best Caricature.
